MTV has used Snapchat in a really innovative way. They encouraged fans to add them on Snapchat to get a listing of 2014 VMA nominations. The list of nominees was sent to fans in the form of eight 10-second Snapchat videos. This proved to be a relevant and effective way of creating excitement.

4. Subway’s #januANY

In January, Twitter was swarmed by GIFs pointing towards Subway’s promotional offer. Subway offered a foot-long sub for $5 throughout January this year. To celebrate this offer, Subway collaborated with 360i and Giphy. The idea was to create a real time moment marketing response for fans tweeting with hashtag #januAny.

The idea was a huge success as it created a lot of memories and funny experiences. The hashtag kept trending on Twitter throughout January, which in itself was a big success.

3. Emirates Airline #HelloChicago

Emirates has recently added Chicago as its ninth US destination. To celebrate this feat, they have started a social competition with a #HelloChicago hashtag. Lucky winners could win a free trip to Dubai. Emirates Airlines posts a picture of Dubai’s popular tourist destinations with a letter from the word “hello”. Fans from Chicago then will have to post a picture with the same alphabet. According to the spokesman of Emirates Airline the campaign has started well and so far, Instagram has proven to be the best social platform.

2. Southampton FC #EarnYourStripes

For the upcoming Premier League season, Southampton FC has changed their kit and adopted the traditional stripe pattern. This was celebrated on social media through a treasure hunt campaign. Hundreds of footballs were hidden in different locations, hints to find those balls were shared on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. Fans were asked to find those balls and share a photo with #EarnYourStripes hashtag to enter a lucky draw. Winners received Southampton FC’s new kit. It was an awesome campaign which was thoroughly appreciated by the fans.

1. Always #LikeAGirl

Proudly sitting at number one, is the Always #LikeAGirl campaign. P&G’s marketing department has executed a beautifully crafted idea against negative gender stereotypes. The video asks a couple of girls to perform different acts like running, punching, dancing with a phrase “Like A Girl”.

The experiment showed young girls’ positive attitude towards phrase “Like A Girl” while older girls displayed a negative approach due to the negative gender stereotype. It was later on explained to the girls how negative gender stereotypes have changed their perception of being a girl. The ad received a tremendous response from audiences across all media. The hashtag #LikeAGirl went viral across all social media platforms, like Twitter, Google+, Instagram and Facebook. People, especially girls, shared a lot of posts under this hashtag. It was like a dream come true for Always’ marketing effort.
