For the launch of the much anticipated Galaxy Note, Samsung partnered with IGN to tap into their fan base which is the perfect target market for the Android smartphone phone. The goal was to create an engaging application which the gamer fans would enjoy interacting with while being exposed to Samsung Galaxy Note branding.
We designed and developed a Facebook application in which gamers would choose their top 5 Indie Games of all time from a list of most popular games compiled by IGN. Gamers would be able to compare and contrast their list with their friends’ selections as well as the IGN editors picks.
To give people incentive to participate, Samsung gave away several Samsung Galaxy Notes as prizes to participants, chosen at random. We created a back-end admin panel through which tracking entries and selecting random winners was a breeze.
The results show that both IGN and Samsung gained thousands of new Likes on their Facebook Pages and the contest saw tens of thousands of entries with the average user’s time spent on the application being approximately 3 and a half minutes.
