Do You Know How to Safely Use Pain Medicines? The Gut Check Journey Tests Patients’ Knowledge
As the cold and flu season peaks, adults will consume an increased number of over-the-counter (OTC) medicines to treat their pain, being unaware of the long term health problems that can result from their misuse.
In an effort to educate people on the safe usage of OTC medicines, American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) came up with an exciting idea of an online challenge to test the knowledge of people about OTC medications.
The theme of the app was based on quizzing people on their knowledge of OTC medicines through a journey presenting real life scenarios. For an engaging experience, every response to a question had a reasoning to it, while a mini-challenge, such as dodging the green apples falling from a tree, made the journey fun and exciting.
Modeling a 3D character in the journey enabled us to create various actions and gestures for a more appealing interface. Where needed, we also animated scenes to further enhance the user’s experience of the journey.
The results of this campaign have been overwhelming. Through social outreach, a large amount of people have been a part of the Gut Check Journey to test their knowledge of safely using OTC medicines.
